As some of you already know I sold my forged motor to Steve over at Modular Misfits http://modularmisfits.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_cry.gif I miss that motor already http://modularmisfits.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif Since I'm staying NA I have no need for heavy forged internals.
I bought a 98 4V motor that I sold the heads and few other items and just kept the shortblock. So I now have a lighter Teskid aluminum block for my future build.
The heads have 1mm larger Crower intake valves and Crower stock exhaust valves (Thanks VT). The reason behind keeping the exhaust valve the same was I'm staying NA and to help keep higher velocity in the cc.
I purchased VT Stage II "Hot Street" cams. I bought Manley Nextek valve springs to handle the 7000rpm shifts this year & .600 lift (Thanks again VT).
I'm switching over to a Accufab Upper Plenum and a 75mm TB to help get as much air into the stock plastic intake as possible.
I added a Moroso 7qt oil pan and Canton Windage Tray. I put on a Cobra High Volume oil pump. The LT headers and o/r H-Pipe are staying but I'm adding Flowmaster Mufflers with dumps. Should sound killer with one chambers http://modularmisfits.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_twisted.gif Keeping the March SFI UD harm. balancer pulley and Water Pump UD pulley. I'm going to get it tuned using 94 octane for the street and 100-104 for the strip.
I have already mention to Scott at VT, next year build will be a BB 305 NA motor http://modularmisfits.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_twisted.gif One of the reason for getting the aluminum block this year. So basically I went backwards this year going back to stock internals but I think it was a good choice since I really want to do a 2V 305 BB motor. If I run 12.2-12.3's this year I'll be happy.
Just thought I would share my progress so far.

Does that mean you'll be selling off this motor at the end of the season also then?

no,why would I? The Aluminum block will allow them to resleeve the bore so I can acheive 305 cid without stroking it. If I stroke it I'll be 324 cid. It is done on cast blocks but why have the extra weight if you don't need it. Plus the Teskid aluminum blocks will support 1000hp easy.

Thanks, I plan on it. I have read alot of bad stuff about stroker on our motors when you stay NA. VT recommended me to stay 304-305 since I'm staying NA

Sounds cool. I want to do a project car, it's definetly going to be a mod motor, just can't decide if I want to go 2v or 4v. Will you be reusing the heads on the 305?

especially since I'll have 12:1 CR on top of the big cams :goodnbad:

Probably, but I'm having them hogged out to flow enough for the BB.

Sounds like you're putting together a mean N/A combo. I wouldn't be totally surprised to see an 11.99 in good air either. I wish I had the time/ funding right now to send mine off to renegade for some NPI head work. I still haven't even installed the drag launches/ sub frames.

Thanks, I just don't want to get my hopes up so low 12's and I'm happy with it. I have changed alot of the car this year. I ran at best 12'4s last year so I can see a 2-4 tenth reduction with what I did this year.

With the suspension combo, you'll have alot of tweaking to do, but if all the planets are aligned, don't put 11's out to pasture yet ;)

spend the money and buy one. I got a complete 4V motor for $500 and sold what I did not use. The 100lb weight savings is well worth it off the nose of the car.

Gulp. I looked up a 3.8 engine and they all want 1100 or so.

No, they use WAP blocks (I think that is spelled right) they are not as strong as the teskid blocks used in 91-98 Lincoln and Mustangs. My motor came out of a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII. It is the same 32V they used in Cobra's from 96-98.

Nothing wrong. It was the 1st 3 listings. The next page had the 800 dollar ones.

Wap blocks are pretty strong as well, but not as strong as the teksid. Unless your going to make some serious power, a wap block is fine. And 99 and some 2001 cobras got teksids as well ;)

yeah I was not sure if 99 & 01 got teskid blocks, thanks for the correction.
