EDIT: forgot to add. old motor blew up. thats why im doing this now and not this winter....lol.

went and bought a running explorer motor today. for a damn good price. :D
also got some other stuff...
so far ive got.
~ complete explorer motor. ( GT40P heads )
~ speed pro pistons (flat top) full floating pins with spiral locks. and a new set of forged rods with bolts with bronze bushing for the floating piston pin. all balanced.
~ rings ect for pistons
~ Steeda # 19 cam.
~ X303 cam
~ double roller timming chain.
know i still have alot left to buy. gonna start yanking the explorer motor apart sometime soon. its still in the back of my truck, ill un load it in the morning and get it on the engine stand.
Yes i know, i have two cams. gonna use the steeda cam though.
anyways. i few pics, im tired, sun burnt on top of sun burn and want to go to bed. enjoy.

gonna wait to pull the heads till there ready to go off to the machine shop. but the motor was damn clean on the inside. no build up. just oil. onl problem is one intake bolt snapped in the head. and of course it was the last one. we tried heating it up and i cant get it out. so im just going to have the machine shop deal with it becasue i dont want to mess the head up.

still has the crank in it. havent pulled it out yet becasue i dont feel like laying it on the garage floor.

sweet... i'll be following this, i haven't looked into it much, but how hard is it to pull the front clip off like that... im gonna do a 351 swap this winter and wanna hide as much wiring so i figure that'll be the easiest way to do it....

not hard. as long as the screws that hold the inner fenders on will back out. i had to use a cut off wheel on one on each side. :beef:

I'm lucky enough to have a gear head wife as well, hence the purple engine, and why she drives the stang more than i do.... The baby thing might be a little hard, but the garage is attached to our room.... so he won't be to far away....

lol... she fractured her wrist two weeks ago putting a radiator in her blazer while i was at work.... she's 7 months now... lol

i can now see im an idiot. the place that painted the car back in 01 sprayed rubber under coating over the rusty frame rail on the driver side and did a hill by repair. its really bad the more i dug into it. bad enough to where a few hard launches at the track with the new motor and it wouldn't surprise me if the k-member wouldn't of ripped away from the car. the passenger side is perfect. of course that's what happen when a car sits under a car port for 90% of its life with the passenger side to the house and drive side exposed. right now.

i wish i was older and when these cars came out bought a new one. i hate hillbilly repairs that retarded owner do!

to fix it im going to have to drop the k-member and get it out of the way. so i highly doubt the car will see the road untill spring of 2010 now.

bummer man, but you probably won't miss that much driving and you'll be fixing it right, so that's a fair trade....

ive seen alo worse but its frustrating for a true 48k car. passenger side is preferct. thats what happens when its sit under a car port for 19ish years of it life till i bought it.
