hey guys. I pulled my engine and tranny today, finally got it out, been working on it off and on 4 a while. anyways, now that I have it out, what maintenance things should I do to it? and any little performance upgrades? not looking to spend a ton. oh ya its a 96 v6.

I'd upgrade it either to a 99+ split port motor (if the motor is high mileage), or even look into a 4.2 maybe now that it's out. Other option to run is the M90 swap on it, which could be fun in and of itself.
In terms of maintenance and mileage though, if you're not looking to do anything crazy, now is probably a good time to pull your heads and change the head gaskets.

head gaskets were the reason 4 tearing down and once u get so far it makes sense to just pull the engine.

timing chains. New oil pan gasket. Actually all gaskets. Clean all the muck out of the intake and anywhere else you see it.

Yes The muck is a must esp since I have antifreeze and water and who knows what else in the engine. Is there any way to "flush" the engine clean? and what process does everyone use to paint the engine?

I'm not sure about the 3.8 in your car, but in my grand prix there is a fitting on the back of the engine where you can hook up a hose to flush the block.

Instead of doing all that extra work, why not just let the car sit a little longer and do the v8 swap now? It'll be worth it.

wait it out and put a v8 in, whats the use in putting the 6 back in when you know you want to change it anyways?
