well, i have had this car about 2 months now and finally i think i have it about ready to drop a motor in it. i just finished running brake lines and line locks, and got the hydraulic system buttoned up and bled. got most of the bugs worked out of the suspension. got the car wired with all of the wires soldered, simplified, wrapped up and out of sight.... wiring was somewhat of a mess. got the interior back in. fuel system sorted out, i need a pump and bulkhead fittings still. basically i had to pick up where someone else left off...... thats the worst in my opinion, the car came with coffee cans full of nuts and bolts, but i think i got the boring stuff about knocked out and now i'm ready to move on to the fun stuff. i got a high compression 358 for it along with a tko tranny. i still got a ways to go yet, so i get to take pics. of you guys from the grandstands for a couple months.

update... i scored a set of charcoal flofit seats for 100 bucks ! this kind of thing rarely happens to me, i'm ecstatic. they are 5-6 years old, like the car... old school, but they are damm near mint. found them in some classifieds, some doctor in pittsburgh had them. motor is about done, 11.1:1 compression, still waiting on my heads (192 canfields) at the machine shop, having the springs set up and the seats touched up. got my camshaft innovations custom cam .600", .592" along with some comp roller lifters. i will keep the specs a secret though. it is suppose to run on pump gas no problem. cam grinder told me on saturday night run it down to a 1/8th tank and add 5 gallons of race fuel and crank the timing to 35 total. problem is this thing wont see the light of day until next year, damm thing is sucking up way more money than i thought it would. still need a hood, streeing wheel, cooling system, distributor, valve covers, air cleaner, harnesses, mufflers, pullies and all kinds of other small stuff that really add up and is slowing me down to a hault as i have other projects around the house now. the car is comming out really nice, you all should get a kick out of it when i'm done.

because i have the 4 wheel disc cobra r master/booster setup, it requires a gutted prop. valve, thus. i have to run a line lock on each front wheel. i have a ssbc adj. prop valve with a pressure gauge going to the rear.

ok. That makes sense. I thought you were doing it for over kill. Car looks very clean. I like it.
I just got done with my Strange manual master cylinder swap, with a new Hurst line lock. Had to cut bend and flare all of my lines as well. Thinking about going with a kit from Maximum Motorsports that I saw MMFF do an article on. It comes with Hawk front pads and rear shoes, steel braided lines, and solid caliper mounts for $250. Car stopped about 40' shorter from 60mph with this kit. But, $250 is almost halfway to Strange, Willwood, or Aerospace kit. We'll see. The car goes alot faster now, so I want it to stop good as well!

yeah, you got to have a good set of binders. even with low vacume because of my radical cam i'm hoping mine should still put me through the windshield, combined with the 8 point cage and 5 pt. harnesses, should be pretty safe street car. for a budget sn brakes on a fox are stellar but you would have to swap wheels though.

re-worked the coil overs, set the ride height, eyeballed a alignment, repositioned some brake lines, got all the wiring done (for now), powdercoated my c/c plates because even my step mom asked why they were 2 different colors ? everything else is gravy work from here on in, just don't have the funds to complete at the moment, but it WILL be out first thing in the spring. heres a few pics of her on the ground with her newfound windsor between her strut towers. i think i gave her a pretty nice stance, i gave the coil overs a little extra to account for "settling"....

is been a couple months since i did a update so...., the garage is a mess with 2 cars in it so i really can't take any pictures at the moment, but.... i got the car to the point where as i get the few items needed, it will be plug and play...cooling fan(s) are wired, but no cooling fans to put on it (or radatior). i need a distributor, but when i get one all i have to to is plug it in, everything is wired 100%. fuel system is plumbed, brakes are bled, alignment is eyeballed. i still need a 3" cowl hood, seat brackets for my flofits (115 bucks each), and a tach and water temp gauge. paint work to have the hood properly blended, and a rear seat delete of sorts and shes done. sounds simple right ? money is the issue at the moment from keeping this thing rolling. all i need is 5 or 6 more transmissions to rebuild to get this thing finished ! i will get some recent pics up soon, everything came out pretty nice, the wiring is almost non existant.

took it out tonight for the first time. it drove, stopped, shifted, and ran perfect ! ... better than i expected for the first run out. i was paranoid because of my compression and the 3.27 gear that is currently in the car, the cam was ground for a 4.10 and i didn't want to load the motor too much. i took some timing out of it for a little insurance down to 28 total, which i feel to be conservative. after i made several light trips around my country block (approx 3-4 miles) and brought it home to check on things and started to lay into it a little since the shortblock was all ready broken in. its got nuts for sure ! even with no timing and the 3.27, i think its the fastest thing that i (personally) have driven (without nitrious). once i get the 4.10s in it and start playing with the tune this thing is going to fly ! i still have alot of stuff to buy before i start driving this thing . the vitals after about 45 minutes of running/driving seemed to be 178-190 deg. driving and 178- 200 deg. on about a 10 minute hot idle. oil pressure was 38-40psi hot idle and 60psi+ at rpm hot. seems to me high compression motors create substanially more heat. although, i am running almost straight glycol in it right now though, i need to get some straight water and water wetter in it. i should be getting the 4.10 in it soon, stay tuned..........

your bottom end will be fine I am stock rod and crank and buzz it 7500 with a hyd. shaft so far no issues tore it down over winter and checked everything and it all looks new still. just keep good fuel in it detonation is all you have to worry about find also find your leanest cyl and place a pyro gauge in it helps a bunch when it comes to tuning it more accurate then a wideband. I will have to get ahold of you sometime and check your car out getting ready to build a 15:1 357 for mine and always wanted to check out a windsor swap car that kept the man pedal.

awsome ! i do have confidence in the lower end, i'm spinning this thing about 6700-6900. the possibility of detonation scared me to the point that i got a wideband before i really started cranking on it. the the "man pedal" is the only way to go, imo, keeps the "sport" of it.

harnesses are in, it's a eerie feeling being strapped in. i put a drag bag in the right rear to level the car out like the eibach drag springs. my rear springs are h&r 350#. ideally, i know a anti roll bar is in order for drag traction, but my car spends the majority of the time on the street so it has a panhard bar. the bag is to level the car at the track. still waiting on my hood. i have also been tweaking the carb. rear seat delete should be comming soon too. i included a couple pics of various transmissions in progress too, there's a t5 (top shaft) and the bottom shaft is a t45 (look how much more beefier !)......

i can't believe it, but yes !! if it wasn't for the transmission rebuilding, it would still be sitting in pieces. so, thanks everyone !!

terry johnson can paint !!! he runs a very high quality body shop inside street lethal performance. yes, that's a butt match with 17 year old paint. if it looks different to you in the pics, it's just the way the light is hitting, i was in the direct sunlight and it plays games with matallics. it's spot on ! i couldn't have asked for anything better, and i'm picky. i highly reccomend him to anyone looking for a factory finish. i need some center caps, anyone have any ?
the car is dirty here, nevermind the bugs.....

thats the thing with you turbo and s/c and blower guys, you can keep it stealthy. if i want my windsor to make power... it's going to be loud.
You've never heard my car.....have you? There is only (maybe) one car I know of which is louder then mine, and it's LS1Fury's. The thing is stupid loud(good thing).

The word on the street is that Jake's car is loud due to a Walmart cherry bomb exhaust that was improperly installed....... and from what I hear, he doesn't even have a supercharger; rather just a power steering pump issue........

what the hell, i'll do a little update. the thread was dying. :D
sold my demon, which was totally the wrong carb for my car. it was all i had at the time. what i have now is far more suited for my motor. it's not a $1000 holley, but it is a $600 proform race 750. this carb is considered a "HP" style (what i need), it has more adjustments then i know what to do with :D (good thing). it's botled up, full of fuel, floats set, and ready to fire... just no time, will be a day or two yet. then it's off to the dyno in a week or two (or 3) to do some "self tuning" if necessary (i'm hoping terry will let me run it)....i set it up to the best of my ability so we'll see. i'm fighting traction with the 17's, along with my inability to drive the god damm thing.... so i want to see the numbers so i have a better idea of what this thing "should" run since i never have time to take it to the track it seems. keep ya' all posted !
sorry about the late night dark garage pics.........

first trip out with the new carb was better than 2 months of screwing with the demon. even with this thick ass, humid air, it ran damm near perfect ! i'm impressed. i can't tell if it runs stronger, but it's driveability manners are what they should be. typical double pumper fat idle, im going to try bumping the low speed bleeds from 70 to 72 and see if it thins the circuit a bit. otherwise, it feels spot on. i probablly should leave it alone. :)
dyno or track.... ? here i come ! whichever comes first !

man, this thing runs so much better it pisses me off. i wasted SO much time with that demon, and i knew better the whole time.... holleys are for fords ! sometimes i get so stubborn i won't quit trying to make something work. so the last 2 months of headaches was because i was being stubborn and i didn't want my car down. http://steelcitystangs.com/forums/images/smilies/Angry/duh.gif man, was it worth the week or two of down time !
