I read an article that was in a past issue of MM & FF where they dyno'da GT before and after removing the factory air silencer and the result was a 4HP increase. Doing this free mod and replacing the stock air inlet tube with a C & L air tube I think would produce very good results at a cheaper price. I guess the bottom line is I'm wondering if I have wasted money on my STEEDA CIA (asides from cosmetic value)?

Yes, MAGNAFLOW cat-back.

I'm sure putting a k&n drop in would maximize your newly found airflow also.

When I did my CAI I noticed a little bit of a difference, other then that its mainly there for looks and the fact like stated earlier more air into the engine is always a good thing. Plus it gave my stock exhaust a little deeper sound to it.

The factory air tube having the "hump" in it is hindering the air flow, even if you have a K & N air filter installed in the stock air box. I am thinking a person might be a few dollars ahead to remove the air silencer, add a K & N air filter, and replace the stock air tube with a C & L tube. This might be about a $40.00 savings and get the same results as buying a cold air system. I'm just wondering if people agree with my thoughts.

That is a good idea, but i think an entire in-fender system would be more beneficial. The stock airbox is just that, an airbox, as opposed to an open filter outside of the engine bay. Also a CAI has complete tubing including a smooth flowing throttle body elbow. Just my views.

CAI are really over rated. That would be one of the last items I would do on my mod list. Magazine articles are there to sale the paying advertiser product. On a stock Mustang you will see if lucky 4-6rwhp gain with a complete CAI. On my 04 Mach 1 I lost rwhp with a CAI.
Spend your money on exhaust and gears first to max what you already have.

any CAI will maybe give you 1 rwhp which is easily negated by any two dyno pulls.
