View Full Version : ? bout tach adapter on 96

does anyone know how this tach adapter hooks up to my 96 gt stang 4.6?

it's an autometer tach adapter model 9117

it has 4 wires comin out of box. red/black/grey/ & red with green stripe

i want to hook up this 5" tach in my car, and was told i needed this adapter to do so. any help would great... thx in advance.

no adapter needed. I forget which wire too hook into but its one behind the dash cluster itself. I put mine in years ago and forget the site I found the info on. Tach adapters are for 99+s. On a MSD window switch they say to hook into the right coil pack and the farthest right wire of the 3 wires for a RPM signal. You could try that just splicing into the 3rd wire. If it doesn't then try researching the net for the wire behind the dash cluster.
